Anxiety-Free Sedation Dentistry San Diego

Creating Confident Dental Patients Now and In the Future

Many people avoid essential dental care out of fear, but this puts you at risk for developing serious oral health issues. Fortunately, treatments are available to help you feel relaxed and comfortable at the dental office.

At Talmadge Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we are committed to providing quality dental care for all patients, especially those with dental phobias. We offer sedation dentistry to help alleviate fear, so you can focus on receiving the dental care you need to achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.

Creating Positive Dental Experiences with Every Visit

Dr. Alex Reizian recommends sedation based on your level of anxiety and your specific treatment plan. If you have difficulty stepping into a dental office regardless of the reason for your visit, medication is available which can be taken before your appointment. You’ll feel relaxed before you even enter our office and comfortable throughout your visit.

Our dentist and his team make every effort to create positive and stress-free experiences, from our friendly chairside manner to our advanced technology. We recommend relaxation options on a case-by-case basis for soothing anxiety and promoting complete comfort.

Your Options for Sedation Dental Care

Each treatment approach is personalized, helping ensure the proper sedation method makes you feel your best throughout your procedure. After discussing your needs with our dentist, he can recommend the following:

Nitrous Oxide

Also known as laughing gas, this option involves inhaling the sedative through a small mask. Nitrous creates feelings of comfort and allows you to stay calm while receiving care. You are awake, but time appears to pass quickly. It is the safest form of sedation available and clears your system in less than 5 minutes, thus allowing you to drive yourself home.  You won’t feel groggy after treatment with nitrous oxide.  Nitrous oxide is especially helpful when treating children due to its safety and efficacy.

Oral Conscious Sedation

If your appointment is longer, or you suffer from heightened anxiety, we recommend oral conscious sedation. You take a pill before your visit and will need someone to take you to and from our office. If you are still feeling nervous when you arrive, a second dose can be provided.  Sometimes, it is used in combination with nitrous oxide.
